Twenty eight-year-old David Alaba, a member of the 2020 UEFA League winning team, has been described as a worthy ambassador of the Nigerian Nation and pride of Africa.

Alaba’s club, FC Bayern Munchen of Germany, defeated PSG by 1-0 in the finals of the UEFA Championship to emerge the winner for the sixth time and with a record of winning its nine matches up to the finals.

A leader in the Nigerian Community in Vienna, Austria, Engineer Oluyemi Ogundele, in a statement, said the footballer came from a good parentage that has been a source of pride to Africans in Austria.

“His father, George Babatunde Alaba, mother, Gina Alaba and younger sister, Rosemary Alaba, have been a source of inspiration for many Africans and Philippine communities in Austria.

“The 28-year-old David, like the Biblical David, despite wearing the colour of his country of choice, Austria, has never forgotten his root. He has won many battles for the black race in Austria without going to the battle field.

“He has been able to change the narrative of how Nigerians and by extension Africans are being treated in Austria in his own little way. He is indeed a worthy Ambassador of Nigeria. He is my own man of the year 2020,” Ogundele wrote.
