Contrary to media reports by some sections of the media, that the Minister, Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC), Mr Effiong Akwa, were being probed by the Code of Conduct Bureau(CCB), on alleged bribery, the Commission has cautioned the media against sensationalized reporting.
Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, in a telephone interview with Pees Reporters on Monday said”, my brother, all these are allegations which we are looking into. No body has been found guilty. The media should allow us do our job and stop all this here say and sensationalized reporting”
“The report that the sole administrator of NDDC, Mr Ewan would be arrested if he failed to appear before the commission is not true. Nobody ever said that”, he declared.
Agbonayinma, stated that “the report is misleading, malicious, and from the imagination of the writer, which is intended to set the Bureau against the general public. I never told any journalist or journalists anything like that.”
“Let me reiterate that the committee is not to witch-hunt anyone but to do its job of defending the constitution of Nigeria. We invited Akpabio who, in his wisdom, came to give his own side of the story. At the moment we cannot pass judgement as investigation is still in progress. So I wondered where some section of the media got their report from. The media need to be factual in their reportage. Any misleading information can set a country on fire. Please, let us be guarded,” he stressed.
