Akwa Ibom State indigenes, who were recently appointed and inaugurated into federal boards of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, yesterday, stormed the Abuja residence of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on a thank you visit.
Speaking one after the other, the elated appointees, thanked Akpabio, whom they described as their benefactor and a highly detribalised Nigerian who sees all from the prism of One Nigeria.
They all thanked him for spreading federal appointments across the three Senatorial districts and even beyond party lines.
In his response, the Senate President, assured them of his total support for the party and its members, saying, ” this is just the beginning of good things to come. This appointment, to me, is to tell you that you have been recognized by the federal government and not forgotten.
“Just hold this (appointment), more are still coming and it will get to everybody. Thank you for coming back to thank me. Continue to work and promote the party in your constituencies, by preaching the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
