Akpabio Lauds NDDC For New Development Strides In Niger Delta

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Friday, attended the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital and called on the stakeholders in the region to support the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to achieve more for the region.

The Summit, organised by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), assembles the people of the Niger Delta and policy experts to develop strategies and articulate a roadmap for economic growth and development of the region.

The theme of the summit is Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta region.

The Summit was also attended by former President Goodluck Jonathan, (who chaired the occasion), Governors from the oil producing region, members of the National Assembly, Ministers and former governors from the region and other Stakeholders.

The President of the Senate, who is also an indigene of the region, attended the event in dual capacity; as the representative of President Bola Tinubu and the Special Guest of honour.

In his remarks, Senator Akpabio applauded the NDDC for the new development paradigm in the region which has led to the commissioning of turnkey projects in the past few weeks.

He commended the board and management of the Commission for working towards the realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu admistration and called for the support of the stakeholders for the Commission to the development of the region.

The Managing Director of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku, spoke on the summit’s significance. He enumerated the achievements of the NDDC under his leadership and the plans to further develop the Niger Delta region, pointing out that the agency was not competing with state governments.
