The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has challenged anyone to fault his claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done more than past leaders in the provision of Infrastructure particularly in the Federal Capital Territory.
Akpabio made the remarks on Friday against the backdrop of some television commentaries on a remark which he made on Thursday that Tinubu had done more than the previous administration on the provision of infrastructure in FCT.
The Senate President spoke at the commissioning of the Access Road to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in Karsana West District, Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Akpabio who represented the President, said the Television commentators misrepresented what he said about Tinubu on the development of infrastructure in FCT.
Akpabio said: “They misrepresented what l said. I’m use to it. What l said was about Federal Capital Territory.
“I still repeat myself l have never seen where a President and a Minister of the Federal Capital Territory would commission projects, anniversary by anniversary.
“Up to 31 projects in the third year anniversary. And the Minister has whispered to me that before the commencement of the elections by January next year, 19 more projects of high quality standard will be added to the list of projects.
“I was talking about the Federal Capital Territory. If l were to talk about States of the Federation in general, l would still be right.
“From Badagry to Sokoto, major infrastructure is being done by this administration and that stretch alone has 74 dams which will revolutionise agriculture in the northern region.
“I can also mention the coastal road which the people of Niger Delta dreamt of for the past 100 years but today it has become a reality.
“The other day we were at the Nigeria Revenue Service(NRS) to commission a project. I was shocked. I have seen that building right from when l was a commissioner in 2002 but l did not know what the structure was for but under this administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has completed that place. He is not discriminating against his projects and projects that were started more than 30 years ago.
“FCT is not born today but the Satellite towns are now feeling the impact of governance everywhere. Look at this road we are about to commission. I use to hear of Karsana village but now it has become Karsana city.”
Akpabio applauded President Tinubu and the FCT Minister for collaborating to perform “wonder” in the FCT
“I challenge anybody to come here(FCT). Even me going to the Villa from my house in Asokoro, when l pass through that bridge, l always pray for you. I say may God bless you and your administration in the FCT,” Akpabio said.
The FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike collaborated Akpabio’s claims on Tinubu’s record of infrastructure development.
Wike said: “We were in Abuja yesterday and the subject matter has to do with infrastructure as far as FCT is concerned and you(Akpabio) said and it is correct, no President has constructed more infrastructure than Tinubu, not only in the city centre, even in the Satellite towns.
“You did not talk about the whole Nigeria. Even if you talked about the whole Nigeria, you are right. But your comment centred on FCT where you were carrying out assignment yesterday to talk about Mr President.
“Let anybody come out to say whether the Satellite towns knew governance before. Whether they knew the impact of government before. Nobody knew about this Karsana district but today see where we are. It is about provision of infrastructure.”
