NSIMA EKERE CALLS FOR CANCELLATION OF GUBER POLLS IN AKWA IBOM STATE

The All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate for the March 9,2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom State,Obong Nsima Ekere has described what happened in Akwa Ibom State during the governorship election as a sham.

Ekere, who mounted the witness box as Petitioners’ Witness 46 (PW46) told the Tribunal that the governorship election conducted by INEC in the state was marred with irregularities and not according to the Electoral Act and called for outright cancellation.

Asked by Tayo Oyetibo SAN, Counsel to the 2nd respondent if he was in all the units in the state to monitor the elections, Obong Nsima Ekere said, “I have agents in all units in the state.They brought reports to our party.I also have a situation room in Uyo and my village in lkot Abasi. I monitored the electoral processes in the situation room I set up before the election in my village in Ikot Abasi Local Government.

“Election is a process My Lord, a house can’t stand without a foundation. It commences with accreditation to declaration and if one misses, the process can’t be valid”, he said.

On the claim that he won in some local government areas in the state, Ekere had this to say, “I won in Essien Udim and other local government areas. But, having gone through election materials INEC used in conducting the exercise and the processes, I have to abandon the claim and call for nullification of the entire processes irrespective of the local government areas that I won.Doing so will enable the electoral umpire to conduct transparent, free and credible election in the state”.
