The resolve of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure sustained peace in the Niger Delta region may have necessitated the unexpected redeployment of the Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Festus Keyamo SAN, to the Ministry of Labour and Productivity barely a month after his inauguration as a Minister of the Federal Republic.PeesReporters.com reliably gathered that there had been complaints and disquiet from Ondo State, one of the oil producing states in the Niger Delta region over its representation in the region and board.
The anger, it was gathered was became very potent after the ministerial announcements did not favour the state in any of the oil related ministries
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had initially announced Senator. Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State, as substantive Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and Festus Keyamo as Minister of State from Delta State.
From the recently released appointments into the NDDC board by President Buhari, Delta State also has the position of MD NDDC in the person of Bernard Okumagba.
However, after wide consultations with relevant stakeholders and to avoid what could gradually lead to a crisis, the president decided to assuage the cry of the Ondo oil bearing communities by reposting their son, Tayo Alasoadura from Labour to Niger Delta Ministry.
