OBASEKI SET TO DUMP APC FOR PDP

By Kayode Ossai
There are strong indications pointing to fact that the embattled Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, may have concluded plans to dump the broom-wielding party for the umbrella counterpart; the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Sources close to the governor’s camp informed peesreporters.com that, the governor has already concluded on his option B and would not want to be taken unawares.
” Governor Obaseki is a proactive politician, who will not want to be  taken unaware ahead of the party’s governorship primaries, which is the subject of confrontations within his current party. He has his Plan B very close to his chest and will not want the fate that befell the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode to befall him, when his godfather,  Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu moved against him,”the source disclosed.
Speaking further on strict condition of anonymity,  the source disclosed that, “the reconciliation committee set up to look into the impasse between the governor and his estranged godfather and predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, will not bear any fruit in favour of the governor as the odds are loaded against him as far as the party’s ticket is concerned.”
It was also learnt that, the governor had even before the former governorship candidate of the Peoples  Democratic Party(PDP), Pastor Ize Iyamu, moved to the broom-wielding party, he had secured the PDP’s governorship ticket, inorder not to suffer the same fate as Ambode.
It was further gathered that, Obaseki’s continued stay in the party is intended to whittle down the influence and acceptance of the party in the state, after which he will move to his new party.
The grandstanding of Governor Obaseki against the composition of the  reconciliation committee is part of the game plan intended to delay the process, while he continues to gain ground in the state ahead of the governorship election next year.
