Sports Minister lauds Akpabio for constructing FIFA standard Stadium in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare has lauded former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for constructing a world class International Stadium for sports development in the country.
Speaking to a select group of journalists, the Minister noted that it was shameful that Nigeria has only one football pitch of FIFA standards.
According to the Minister, ” it is a shame that Nigeria has only one standard football pitch of FIFA rating and that is the one at Uyo, constructed by the administration of the current Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio. “
It would be recalled that the FIFA inspection team for the Women World cup, recently inspected and approved the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, as one of venue that would host the female football fiesta.
The FIFA inspection team said it based its approval of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, because of the quality facilities installed in the stadium which meet up FIFA requirements and standard for hosting of world class football events.
