Ekiti Gov’s Aide,Wale Ojo-Lanre, attacked by SARS operatives, hospitalized

The Director General, Ekiti State Art and Culture,  Wale Ojo-Lanre has been hospitalized after he was brutalized by some overzealous members of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ado Ekiti.

The incident, according to the governor’s aide who narrated his experience to newsmen through telephone, occurred on Thursday evening when he was going home from office.

Wale Ojo- Lanre said, ”I was on my way home when I saw some officers on the road, one of them, who was in the front row, checked me and asked me to go but as I was about moving,  another officer flagged me down.

“As I was about to properly park, the officer hit me with the but of the gun and I passed out.

“It took the intervention of my Personal Assistant and other sympathizers to restore me and thereafter, I was taken to the nearest hospital.

“Though I was discharged last night (Friday), in Ado Ekiti with the hope that I will be better, the reverse was the case, as I woke up the next day with a terrific chest pain. I had to travel to Ibadan, Oyo State to see my personal physician”.

Wale Ojo lanre, a former two-term Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Oyo State Council, described the incident as unfortunate, saying the officer could have ended up killing him if not for the grace of God.

He appealed to the police authorities in the state to take action and bring the officers to book.

Meanwhile, a cross section of people in the state have condemned the actions of the officers urging the police authority to punish them.
