Elder Kayode Bamiduro, former Special Assistant (Media) to the late Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, has appelead to Governor Seyi Makinde to approve the payment of the outstanding furniture allowances due to him and other political appointees, as approved by the late former Governor.
Bamiduro, who was the former head of Mitv/Star FM Ibadan, made the appeal in a statement on Thursday, noting that it became necessary in view of the delay in the payment of the said allowances, despite several representations made to Governor Makinde by the affected former political appointees.
He said he was emboldened to approach the governor to ask for the release of the money, first because it was a statutory entitlement which he has paid to his appointees and, secondly, because he (Bamiduro) has been part of his media team in 2015 and he worked tirelessly for him then.
“Governor Seyi Makinde is somebody I know to be very kind-hearted and generous to people. Beside that, he is ever considerate who will not ordinarily want to hurt anyone,” the veteran journalist said.
Elder Bamiduro said, in politics there is no permanent enemies or friends, adding: “We meet to part and part to meet. Nobody knows what would happen in 2023.”
He said he was one of the people that advised the governor in 2015 not to contest on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 elections because the party was not well known, though he, as a person, has goodwill among the people of the state.
Appealing to the governor to put aside politics and pay the allowances to the former aides of the late Senator Ajimobi, he reminded the governor that such steps would portray him as a leader that is not vindictive, more so, that he has paid same to his own appointees.
Bamiduro also commiserated with Governor Makinde over the death of Engineer Lere Adigun of Sahara Engineering Company and prayed for God’s guidance in the day-to-day running of his administration.
