Residents, Commuters Cry Out As Naked Lunatics Take Over Ughelli

By JOE MUKORO

Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has been called upon to find a lasting solution to the increasing number of naked lunatics that have taken over strategic parts of Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

Motorists and commuters alike complained that fully naked mad people have completely taken over the Otovwodo Junction, harbouring about 95 per cent of the lunatics walking about without a single cover on their bodies.

Otovwodo Junction is a confluence point where commuters from and to major cities in the country, such as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin and Asaba, converge for a stopover to refresh before continuing their journeys.

Residents and commuters say they are continually embarrassed by this obscenity, among whom is Mr. Jimbo who said he was thoroughly ashamed at the scenario because he had his kids with him in his car when he arrived at Ughelli from Calabar en route Lagos.

Another commuter, Mrs. Jack who arrived at the same place from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said it was a horrible experience, as she was forced to order her daughters to shut their eyes until they passed through the town.

Several other commuters said they now prefer to travel through Onitsha, a longer route, to avoid the pervading ugly scene of human nakedness at Ughelli.

Residents also have complained that parents are under psychological torture because their children are continually exposed to nudity.

They therefore called on the authorities of Ughelli North Local Government Area and the Delta State government to do the needful about the ugly situation and stem the tide of increasing naked lunatics in the town.
