Odebunmi Calls For More Funding For Press Council

Honourable Segun Dokun Odebunmi has called more funding for the Nigerian Press Council, noting that poor budgetary is hampering the activities of the council.

Odebunmi, who is chairman, House of Representatives’ Committee on Information National Orientation, Ethics and Values, made the call when the new Executive Secretary, Mr Francis Nwosu and the management of the council paid him a visit in his office, on Wednesday

The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency congratulates the NPC executive secretary and also assured the council of hope on his new appointment.

He noted that as the NPC ACT Amendment bill is under legislative process, there is a need for executive-legislative collaboration in order to move the council forward and also a need for an open-door policy required for working together in the interest of country

The Executive Secretary of NPC said part of the challenges being faced by the council include incessant litigations, lack of permanent accommodation, poor funding andinfrastructural deficit, among others

He therefore request for patronage on handling of projects in line with the NPC mandate and also called for proper funding by the government.
