The Ekiti State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the South-West Caretaker Committee of the party for appointing Lere Olayinka, the media aide of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, as Zonal Director of Media and Publicity of the party.

The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Raphael Adeyanju, made the commendation in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the appointment will go a long way to unite the party in the state and also fight the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a common enemy.

“Our party has just made a very smart decision because Lere Olayinka’s new assignment is a very difficult and challenging task that can only be handled by a competent and a committed party man who is very familiar with this type of difficult terrain.

“The PDP is an opposition party, both at the federal and the regional levels, to a party that is intolerant to a dissenting voice.

“It will take a lot of courage and determination to confront a fascist government that is ever ready to suppress opposition and cover its inadequacies with blatant lies and propaganda.

“This is why we need the likes of Lere Olayinka as the spokesman. This is a man who has consistently exposed the weakness of the ruling party and keeps it on its toes,” the statement read in part.

The Ekiti PDP spokesman enjoined all members of party in the state to bury their differences and work towards a common goal of wrestling power from the ruling APC, both at the federal and the state levels.

“The APC is a regrettable mistake that must be corrected. The party has brought nothing but sorrow to Nigerians who are looking up to the PDP to help removing this APC yoke from their shoulders.

“Ekiti State is particularly in need of urgent intervention of our party before the incumbent APC government destroy our collective destiny,” he added.
