LG Primary: Ningi’s Declaration Of Free, Fair Election, A Death Sentence On The Party – Olopoeyan

A member of Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, has pooh-poohed the verdict of the  Senator Abdul Ningi-led Local Government Electoral Committee that the local government primary of the party that his committee conducted was free, fair and credible.

Olopoeyan said such declaration  was far from the truth, stressing that that singular act, by Ningi has further widened the rift within the party and has indirectly brought to an end a united PDP in Oyo State.

Ningi, the chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, had, while submitting the report of his committee on the exercise to Governor Seyi Makinde, claimed that the process was free and credible.

Olopoeyan said Ningi lied and called on the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to refrain from giving the former senator such a responsibility in the future.

He said he would not have bothered himself with the alleged falsehood and charade put up by the electoral committee, if its chairman, Ningi, had not declared the primary free, fair and credible.

Olopoeyan challenged Ningi and his committee members to move round the 33 local government areas in the state and make such claim, and wait for the result of such a falsehood.

“I challenge Senator Abdul Ningi. If truly the primaries was free, fair and credible as he was saying, he should go round the local government areas and tell them the primary was free, fair and credible and see what will happen to him.

“I want him to mention one local government area that he went to, to monitor the primary or where the primary was held. Senator Ningi is just here to do a hatchet job that will destroy the party in Oyo State.

“Ningi lacks credibility. He has not seen or even pick the calls of aggrieved aspirants and leaders of the party since his arrival in Ibadan. He was just sitting in the hotel enjoying himself until today, Wednesday, when he showed up at the Government House, making false claims.

“Before the conduct of the primaries, there should bea stakeholders’ meeting. I want everybody, including the PDP NWC, to ask Ningi where such meeting was held or the local government area he visited.

“When the party executives knew there won’t be any primary, why collecting money for nomination form from aspirants? This was a dubious character.

“I want to remind Governor Seyi Makinde that, in 2015, when there was this kind of delegate congress that would in turn do governorship primary, he left the party. Nut to our surprise, the governor is now allowing the party executives to do what he cannot accept to other members of the party.

“I want to appeal to the PDP NWC to address the injustices from the Ningi-led electoral committee and party executives in the state, if anything good can come out of the party in the future elections.

“There is a crisis everywhere now. If Senator Bukola Saraki-led committee can come and witness it, it is because we believe in their committee.

“He should learn from Senator Bukola Saraki-led reconciliation committee, which is meeting and consulting with all the aggrieved members, irrespective of any group such persons belong,” Olopoeyan said.
