AKWA IBOM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AFAHA NSIT GETS APPROVAL TO AWARD DEGREE CERTIFICATES

This is to inform the general public that Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit under the administration of PROF. MATTHEW ALBERT EKPO has been granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run degree programmes in affiliation with the University of Uyo in the under listed courses.

This is a 4-year programme which leads to the award of B.Sc(Ed.), BA(Ed) and B.Ed in different disciplines.
The general/departmental requirement are as stated:
1. EDUCATION/ENGLISH BA(Ed.) Candidates seeking admission into English Education Programme by UME must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English Mathematics and two of either Arts/Social Sciences in Senior Secondary School Certificate/or its equivalent; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

2. EDUCATION/MATHEMATICS
BSc(Ed.) Candidates seeking admission into Mathematics Education Programme by UME must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and one Science subject in Senior Secondary School Certificate/or its equivalent; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

3. EDUCATION/BIOLOGY BSc.(Ed .)
Candidates seeking admission into Biology Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate/or its equivalent in English Language, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

4. EDUCATION/CHEMISTRY BSc (Ed.) Candidates seeking admission into Chemistry Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Certificate/or its equivalent; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

5. INTEGRATED SCIENCE EDUCATION BSc (Ed.) Candidates seeking admission into Integrated Science Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English Certificate/or its equivalent; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

6. EDUCATION/PHYSICS BSc (Ed.) Candidates seeking admission into physics Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes Certificate/or its equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and one other science subject; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

7. EARLY CHILDHOOD/PRIMARY EDUCATION. Candidates seeking admission into Early Childhood Care and Primary Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’level credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate/or Its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics and any other three Arts/Social Science and Science subjects; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

8. SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION . Candidates seeking admission into social studies programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate/or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics and three of either Artsor Social Science subject at not more than two sittings; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

9. EDUCATION/AGRICULTURE BSc(Ed .) Candidates seeking admission into Agricultural Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science in Senior Secondary School Certificate/or its equivalent; in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).

10. BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME BSc.(Ed) Candidates seeking admission into Business Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two of Government, Commerce, Account/Book Keeping, Business Method/Management or Commercial subjects in Senior Secondary School Certificate/or Its equivalent; In addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME)

Invading their houses or impounding their private vehicles even from the mechanics for any reason, is barbaric and should be frowned at.’ “We want to make this appeal and ask Governor Emeka Ihedioha to take charge as the governor of the State and halt the incessant harassment and abuse of the wife and children of the former governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha by his senior appointees and their foot soldiers. Specifically, Governor Ihedioha should call Uche Onyeaguocha and his thugs to order and stop them from their harassment and abuse of the wife and children of the former governor. “Chief Ihedioha should not create an ugly history or set a very bad precedence as the first governor of the State who took delight in harassing the children and wife of the man he succeeded as governor. “Chief Ikedi Ohakim never harassed or abused the children and wife of Achike Udenwa he succeeded as governor. Owelle Rochas Okorocha for one day, never harassed or abused the wife and children of Chief Ohakim who he succeeded also as governor. Ihedioha should follow those examples. “His appointees have been harassing and castigating the children and wife of the former governor even at public functions and in the media. This is not good for the Office of governor. It also gives the wrong impression that those who want to be Secretary to the Government of the State should only need to tear or chew election result sheets. Okorocha’s wife and children never committed any crime by remaining in the State after he had left as governor, when the children and wives of those before him are all at overseas. “They are here because they believe in the State and Owelle has an addiction for the good of the State. Finally, people should not see Rochas Okorocha’s penchant for peace and tolerance as weakness. A word should be enough for the wise.”

11. TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME B.Sc(Ed). Candidates seeking admission into Technical Education Programme must have a minimum of five (5) O’level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics in Senior Secondary School Certificate/or Its equivalent: in addition to acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).
