I attended Makinde’s inauguration as former governor

•••I am still a bonafide and loyal APC member   – Alao-Akala

Contrary to speculations making the rounds in Oyo State, that former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala, who was conspicously seen at the swearing-in-ceremony of Governor Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, was on his way back to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), the man at the centre of it, has said that the rumour was untrue.

Speaking exclusively with Peesreporters.com on the rumour, the former local government chairman said, “I am still a bonafide and committed member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). I attended the inauguration as a former governor of the state, who was duly invited and on top of the protocol list of the state.
“As a former governor of the state, I am expected to attend any state event that I have been duly invited. I was not invited by the Campaign Organisation of the governor but by the Transition Committee.
“During Ajimobi’s tenure, I attended state events when duly invited. The inauguration was a state event. I was duly invited and I had no personal reasons not to be there,”he stressed.
According to the former deputy governor, “I did not attend the event as a member of any political party, I was there in my capacity as a former chief executive of the state. Besides, I am still a staff of the state government because I still draw my salary from the government.
Speaking further, the governorship candidate of the ADP in the last governorship election disclosed that, “if I decide to stay away from any state event it might be due to the fact that I was not invited, out of the country or on my personal decision that has nothing to do with party affiliation”.
