Ogun Governor’s Inauguration: Police Arrest Man With Pistol

The Police in Ogun State have arrested one Oluwaseun Fakoyejo, 31, for wielding a locally fabricated pistol at the venue of Wednesday’s, May 29, 2019 inauguration of the state governor, Dr. Dapo Abiodun.

Also found in the suspect’s possession were four live cartridges, the police have stated.

The suspect had, alongside several other hoodlums, thronged the Moshood Kasimaowo Abiola (MKO) Stadium, venue of the event, ostensibly to dispossess people of their belongings.

Prior to that day, Crimepuzzle gathered that the state Police Command had, through its intelligence gathering, got wind of the likely untoward act of the hoodlums and prepared its operatives to proactively cub the intended menace.

Confirming the arrest in a press statement made available to our reporter, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that: “Shortly after the departure of the Governor and some dignitaries, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), deployed to the venue, got information that some hoodlums were formenting trouble, threatening people with dangerous weapons.

“The operatives swiftly moved in and succeeded in arresting one of the miscreants while others escaped”, the PPRO said

Oyeyemi also confirmed that the suspect was, at the time of his arrest, found with one locally made single barrel pistol and four live cartridges.

Meanwhile, according to the police spokesman, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, had ordered a thorough investigation of the suspect with the view to getting his fleeing accomplices arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
