Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Monday, put up a physical appearance at the National Assembly Petition tribunal, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital where he is challenging the declaration of Engineer Christopher Ekpenyong by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the winner of the Senatorial election for the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District seat.
Security operatives attached to the Senator had a hectic time preventing the surging crowd made up of mostly judiciary staff and supporters as they surged to have a handshake with him amidst solidarity chants.
It was Akpabio’s first appearance at the tribunal since it commenced sittings.
The sitting on Monday marked the commencement of the hearing of the petition after pre-hearing sessions.
