AKWA IBOM MUST LEARN AGAIN TO TREAD THE SENSIBLE PATH
By Otu Ita Toyo
Did Akwa Ibom just throw out the Senate Presidency baby with the bath water?
And the ignorant says _”serves him right!”_ but what about us? All of us. Must we continue the deliberate destruction of our braves? We specialise in cutting our noses to spite our face.
The great teacher may have been many things to many people but he oxygenated the national polity in our (Akwa Ibom’s) behalf . No one else even comes close.
Love him or hate him Godswill elevated and touched the lives of many; many quite positively and some very elaborately. *It is the unfolding tragedy of our society that it is the very people he lifted up to dizzying heights who energised his curious loss(?)*. The students have come of age. If they start by eating up their master, what fate then, the rest of us? There is a lesson to be learnt right there.
Akpabio was our most robust and muscular warrior. He may have elected an arguably controversial path, he is not alone in that, for so too have many other effective leaders, they are human.
But he was still our most robust and muscular. By the Grace which he exudes, we can expect him to rise from the ashes of this betrayal. He will rise, a better and more experienced leader, more cadent in execution. *He would also have learnt the universal lessons about true friendship and loyalty.*
This self inflicted wound will leave our State hemorrhaging politically for an uncomfortable season. But there is light within the tunnel.
PMB has just got his second term. We must elect to join others and ride the crest of that victory or stab ourselves yet again by remaining out of the loop. We must give him a Governor to work with. The Governor from Akwa Ibom State must proudly and deservedly march in lockstep with the President. We can not afford the exigencies of being outside the room where decisions are made.
*We must, as usual, lead the way by hooking up with the moving locomotive. To be clear, APC has just picked up the Federal Government…PMB is President for another four years!*
About time we learnt the lessons of Nigeria..!!!
