EKON DISSOCIATES SELF FROM MONEY FOR JOBS ALLEGATION

•••THREATENS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THOSE BEHIND THE LIES

The attention of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon has been drawn to an irresponsible and mischievous story circulated online by one Omega Smith – a serial propagandist claiming that Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon “duped poor innocent citizens across Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency to the the tune of N16million, deceiving them that he will give them federal jobs.”

Ordinarily, this would not have elicited any response from Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon but for the fact that it was filled with untruth, fallacies and weighty allegations all in a bid to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Hon. Ekon. If Omega Smith and his cronies had confined their vague machinations to facts, this response would not have been necessary.

We hereby state clearly without any equivocation that there is absolutely no iota of truth in Omega Smith wild and unsubstantiated allegations. Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon made no personal contact or through a proxy with any of the victims for such a dubious venture but was only informed through a third party in June, 2019, after which he instructed relevant security agencies to immediately investigate and prosecute anybody found culpable.

It is on record that I have trained over 500 youths in the oil and gas sector, who received stipends ranging from N120,000 – N150,000 for a period of 4-12months in some cases. I have equally facilitated the employment of 13 Air Traffic Controllers and assisted over 22 people from Akwa Ibom State secured gainful employment with the Federal Ministry of Aviation in addition to recruitments into the Immigrations and the Military, coupled with countless employments into various parastatals and agencies of government without asking for or receiving a dime.

It is therefore the height of recklessness, most uncharitable and unconscionable for Omega Smith and his pay masters to concoct such lies in a failed attempt to murder facts and bring to disrepute the umblemished reputation and character of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon.

We wish to further state here that it is not only morally ignoble but also lawfully reproachable for Omega Smith to so unscrupulously smear the name and personage of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon whose representated Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency with all earnestness of purpose and satisfaction of good conscience.

In the light of this mischief taken too far, we demand that Omega Smith retracts the said publication and apologise to Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon through the same medium, 24hours from the publication of this release. In the eventuality that Omega Smith fails to accede to these demands, we have instructed our lawyers to immediately institute criminal charges against Omega Smith and any other person involved in this saga for malicious defamation of character.

Additionally, I demand Mr. Frikpu Archibong to publish a rejoinder with immediate effect and inform the general public, the truth about his transactions with Mr. Uduak Iniodu within 24hours as we shall be left with no option but to deploy the full weight of the law against him.

Signed:

Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon
