The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Paul Ekpo, on Monday, lauded the role, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, his former boss, played in his political life, declaring that he will never forget what God used  the former governor to in his life.

The PDP chieftain stated this while delivering a thank you speech, as part of activities lined up by his political associates, friends and family members to celebrate his 50th birthday anniversary, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
According to the former  Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matters  under the Godswill Akpabio-led administration, “permit me to place on record the roles played in my life by the Honorable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio. He was my boss, who appointed me into various positions in his government and when  my life was threatened, he was there for me with other government officials. I will never forget him.”
Ekpo, also thanked his family members and colleagues, who stood by him during that trial period in his life, assuring them that their efforts in his being alive today would never be taken for granted.
However,  while the celebrant was thanking his former boss and the current Minister of the Federal Republic, the microphone suddenly went off, in what an eyewitness  interpreted as “the leadership of the System present at the occasion were not comfortable with the accolades he was pouring on his former boss. Despite that, he was encouraged to continue with his speech by the former chairman of Etinan Local Government and former SSA to the governor, Hon Kenneth Isantim.
Those in attendance were, the state governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Commissioners,  heads of boards and parastatals, lawmakers and other well wishers.
