HOW AKPABIO CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER – WILFRED ASUQUO
A Nigerian pilot by the name Wilfred Asuquo has narrated what it means to make use of an opportunity whenever it presents itself.
He said he made maximum use of all the resources he had from Arik Air. He recalled a very significant moment when he had a chance encounter with former Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio.
Wilfred said with the former governor’s help, he was able to get a full scholarship to the United States for further flight studies.
He added that though it was very unprofessional for him to approach the man onboard as a pilot, he just had to take his destiny in his own hands.
According to him, Akpabio instantly approved his scholarship. Wilfred, therefore, advised his followers on LinkedIn to always strategically position themselves.
Now a business operation analyst, he said he missed flying but happy for the new career path he had chosen.
To show that he had to bear some responsibility before approaching a sponsor, he said he secured his admission first with his salary.
He, however, said anyone wishing to try the stunt he did with Akpabio should think twice before doing so.
He said that he was able to graduate with an amazing 3.30/4.0 CGPA despite the fact that many took him for an unserious student because he was into school politics.
Asuquo said he had to go to a polytechnic because he could not afford the financial cost of attending a university, and not that he couldn’t get admission into one.
