Insecurity: Folarin calls for people’s cooperation with security agencies

Senator Teslim Folarin, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has commended the nation’s security agencies for taking proactive and strategic steps that would help unravel perpetrators of incessant killings and rape incidents in Akinyele Local Area of Oyo State.

This was as he lauded the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu and two of his deputies for relocating his office to Moniya in Akinyele Local Government Area following the killing of 18-year-old Barakat Bello and 29-year-old Azeezat Somuyiwa in the area.

The senator, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade YSO Olaniyi, urged all the security agencies in the state to double their efforts to bring to an end the rising insecurity in the state, especially in the local government area.
He said adequate security of lives and property of people was sacrosanct to the peaceful co-existence and meaningful developments of the state.

Part of the statement reads: “I am worried and pained by the renewed and escalated magnitude of insecurity in the country generally and the Oyo State in particular, through the wanton destruction of lives and property, raping, rampant kidnappings, armed robbery, brigandage and the menace of drug abuse.

“I am working with security agencies across the country to bring an ultimate end to sequence of attacks and security breaches in Oyo Central Senatorial District.

“I commend all the security agencies in the state for their efforts, zeal and commitment in curtailing insecurity in our dear state in particular and the country at large.

“I urged the Oyo Police Command and other sister agencies to sustain the tempo in order to arrest the perpetrators of the killings in Akinyele.”

The former Senate Leader therefore called on the traditional rulers, religious leaders and the people of the state, especially in Akinyele, to cooperate with the security agencies as they carryout their duties.

Senator Folarin’s delegation, had on Sunday, paid a condolence visit to the  family of the late Miss Bello Barakat who was gang-raped and subsequently murdered by yet-to-be identified persons.
