32-year-old housewife slices off husband’s penis in Taraba

Reported cases of domestic violence are on the rise as Halima Umar, a 32-year-old housewife, turned her husband, Aliyu Umar, into an eunuch by cutting off his penis, early Wednesday morning at Tella Village in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Aliyu was said to be seeping deeply under the influence of a drug allegedly administered on him by Halima when the devil took over her and she woke up beside her husband at about 2pm and severed off his penis without any resistance from the man.

Narrating the incident to newsmen, the victim’s younger brother, Usman Umar, said his brother has two wives, with Halima being the first, while he married the second one about three years ago.

He said Halima has grown jealous, fomenting trouble since her husband married the second wife, adding: “Halima had continued to engage my brother and his new wife in fights since their marriage about three years ago.”

Usman said the victim was initially rushed from Tella to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo for medical attention, adding that he was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, Gombe State for better treatment.

Halima was said to have a baby boy, even as she is said to be carrying an eight-month–olds pregnancy for her husband.

She was to have been promptly arrested by the police in Tella Village and taken to the police divisional headquarters in Mutum-Biyu in Gassol Local Government Area.

The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP David Misal, who confirmed the incident, said: “The suspect, Halima Umar, is currently in our custody and would be charged to court after investigation.”
