Taraba lawmaker, newly-elected LG boss docked over alleged financial sleaze

A member of the of the Taraba State House of Assembly, David Jedi, has been arraigned, along with the newly-elected chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area of the state, Oliver Wubon, for alleged financial misdeed.

The duo, along with two others, were taken to a state High Court in Jalingo by the Economy and financial crime commission (EFCC) for allegedly diverting the fund meant for the local government.

Honourable Jedi represents Gembu Constituency in the state legislature and was charged to court along with Wubon who was arrested barely 48 hours after taking oath of office after winning a controversial local council election.

While the anti-graft agency was said to have insisted on detaining the accused persons, the trial judge was also hesitant to grant them bail, but rather was considering remanding them in the court custody till when the hearing of the case comes up.

However, it was said that one Mr Victor Fanlack, said to be the bursar of the Taraba State University, was making efforts to meet the bail conditions of the accused persons, even as the judge was yet to decide on the bail terms.
