DG Mining Office tasks staff on hardwork

The Director General, Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Mr Obadiah Simon Nkom, has admonished staff of the agency to stay motivated and be diligent in their dealings.

Speaking at the recent induction training organised for the zonal staff, he said only the best was expected of them, adding that as pioneer staff for the zonal offices, they were being posted out as ambassadors of the agency.

A statement signed by the MCO Head of Press, Folasade Fatoke, quoted the DG as charging the staff further: “You go as ambassadors and we are not expecting anything less than a good behaviour, so don’t be deceived people are watching you.”

He further said rules should never be broken, adding, “You must adhere strictly to the provisions of the Act governing the establishment of the agency as this will enable you to leverage on government’s programmes towards the diversification of the mineral sector.”

The Director, Registry of MCO, Dr Sidikat Salau, who gave the overview of the Cadastre Office at the training, implored officers to always be punctual and be diligent.

The participants were taken through the roles and service delivery expectations of the various departments and units of the agency by directors and representatives from the departments and the Legal Unit.

The DG particularly stressed the need of the agency to migrate its system to online, noting that doing so will promote the application for mineral title and overall boost the economy.
