AKPABIO DENIES COLLECTING N500M NDDC PROJECTS

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Friday, denied collecting and executing projects worth N500m in the Niger Delta Development Commission.

He stated this when he appeared before the Senate ad hoc committee on the alleged misappropriation of N40bn in the intervention agency by the Interim Management Committee between October last year and May this year.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, had at a news conference recently accused Akpabio of securing the projects without executing them.

(1) : “The reason why you hear so much hue and cry about the #NDDC is because of President Buhari’s approval for a Forensic Audit.”

(2) :”Since I became Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, I have approved only one contract for the #NDDC and that is in respect of COVID-19 intervention”

(3) :”For the Niger Delta region to get maximum benefit we must rejig the way we do budgets for the #NDDC” Also there has to be governance structure to regulate the way things are done at the Commission.

(4): “I didn’t know about any expenditure nor gave any approval during the last IMC tenure. I have approved only one contract for the @NDDC since I came in.”

(5): “We need this Committee to help the Niger Delta beyond this probe. I thank the leadership of the Senate & Senate President for this Investigative Committee.”

(6) The solution to problem of NDDC is the forensic audit as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.
