Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has said that he received the news of the untimely demise of the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Hon Ini Titus Okopido, with shock, pain and grief.
Akpabio, in his first public and official reaction to the news of the death of the late APC chieftain, also noted that ” I am totally devastated, to say the least”
The former governor of Akwa Ibom state’s reaction was contained in a statement, he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The statement read inter Alia:
“I received the news of the death of my Chairman, Hon. Ini Titus Okopido this afternoon with shock, pain and grief. I am totally devastated, to say the least.
“I saw Hon Okopido recently when he came to Abuja, and spoke with him just a few days ago. I did not imagine that he was leaving us so soon.
“As the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Okopido was a committed and resourceful leader who was dedicated to the success and growth of our Party.
“He was dependable, trustworthy and full of optimism in his engagements with members and leaders of our great Party. His ability to connect so easily with the full spectrum of our people was one of the reasons he was so loved. We will miss him sorely.
“On behalf of my family, I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of our departed Chairman and the APC family in Akwa Ibom State.
May the Almighty God grant us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant the deceased eternal rest”.
