In what has been widely described as unprecedented in the history of the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission, the  Chairman, Elder Sunny Akpadiaha has resigned his position

According to a competent source, who spoke with our correspondent in Uyo, the state capital, under strict condition of anonymity, the former chairman decided to throw in the towel over alleged pressure from the state governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, to issue letter of appointments to applicants through the back door against laid down processes for recruitments into the state civil service.
The former chairman, whose resignation letter was tendered over a forth night ago, was said to have walked away without the knowledge of some very senior civil servants in the state.
Since his resignation, the state government has kept sealed lip on the development because of the alleged interference of the state governor in the recruitment process as alleged by the former chairman.
It was further gathered that this is the first time a serving chairman of the commission would resign and everywhere is quiet.
