Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State is set to make a major change in his two-year-old administration as he has submitted names of seven commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for confirmation, ahead of a cabinet reshuffle.
Speaker of the state legislature, Honourable Funminiyi Afuye, made the revelation during Plenary on Tuesday, adding that the screening of the nominees would commence next week.
Calling on them to make copies of their credentials available to the House, he assured that a thorough screening of the nominees would be conducted as they prepare to join the Governor Fayemi-led administration in the state.
The nominees include, Mr Diran Adesua (Ekiti East), Prince Olabode Adetoyi (Moba), Dr. Mrs Olabimpe Aderiye (Ido Osi LGA), Dr. Oye Filani (Ikole), Princess Iyabo Fakunle (Ilejemeje), Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade (Emure) and
Mr. Akin Omole (Oye).
In another development, Governor Kayode Fayemi has nominated Professor Femi Akinwunmi into the board of the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) and Honourable Febisola Adewale for the Local Government Service Commission.
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Yinka Oyebode, said the development was part of the strategies to fortify the cabinet and bring in new bloods and ideas into the administration in a bid to further develop the state.
Oyebode said Fayemi was determined to deliver on his mandate to bring economic prosperity by working with other progressives to give the people the required dividends of democracy.
“The essence of the cabinet reshuffle is to strengthen the government for better performance and that we shall achieve in the end. Let us wait and see how the screening will end before talking about who will be affected,” he was quoted to have said.
