COURT STOPS UDOM’S AKISIEC FROM CONDUCTING COUNCIL POLL

The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Hon Justice Godwin Abraham, on Monday restrained the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission(AKISIEC) from conducting elections into the local government councils in the state.
The restraining order was as result of a suit filed by Hon Uwem Udoma and 9 others, challenging the illegal creation of additional 39 wards by the AKISIEC with intent to field those wards for election.
The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State  sitting at High Court 1, after hearing the prayers of the Claimants granted an Exparte  Injunction restraining the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral commission (Akisiec)  from conducting the forthcoming Local Government Elections .
Case is adjourned to 31st August 2020.
