Update On Lagos Air Mishap: Helicopter carried three persons-LASEMA

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has clarified that the helicopter that crashed into a building at Opebi, Ikeja, today, was carrying three persons at the time of the mishap.

LASEMA, in a statement by its DG/CEO, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the crashed helicopter is privately-owned and confirmed that two of the persons on board died, while the third one is at the intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

“The agency received distress calls concerning a privately operated helicopter that crashed into 16 A Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja and immediately activated the emergency response plan.

“The helicopter was carrying three (3) people: one is in the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital while the other two were killed on impact and there bodies has been deposited in mortuary.

“We on top of challenges, especially crowd control. Operation is ongoing and updates will follow.”
