Be Ruthless With Bandits, Buratai Charges Troops…Extends Exercise Sahel Sanity to December

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has ordered troops of the Nigerian Army to deal ruthlessly with bandits and criminal elements in the North-West and the North-Central.

This was as he announced the extension of Exercise Sahel Sanity period to December, 2020 to ensure that bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other sundry criminals are totally defeated.

The COAS made the announcement during a special media chat at the Special Army Super Camp 4, Faskari, Katsina State.

He said, considering the progress and achievements recorded by the troops of Exercise Sahel Sanity from 6 July, 2020 to date, the Nigerian Army has expanded its area of responsibility beyond the North-West to include the North-Central as well as reinforcement and regrouping of troops to deal with the criminals ruthlessly.

Buratai noted that, the Nigerian Army is getting more equipments and personnel, hence the need for troops to intensify their onslaught against the bandits and their accomplices.

Giving his general assessment on the Exercise Sahel Sanity, the COAS explained that he is highly impressed with the dedication, commitment, determination and professionalism of the troops in the quest to restore normalcy in the North-West.

He also charged them to maintain the tempo, saying the troops are operating with full compliance within their constitutional responsibility.

Buratai also commended the media for their support and cooperation to the military in disseminating its activities to the general public.

He also urged the public not to shield any criminal as the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, are working assiduously to end all forms of criminality in the region and the country at large.
