Onimesi Holds Maiden Ade Odun Festival

Oba Olatunji Olatunde, the Onimesi of Imesi Ekiti in Gboyin Local Goverment Area of Ekiti State, will, today, commence the four-day celebration of his first Palace Festival, called Ade Odun.

The festival is a replica of the famous Olojo Festival, an annual event hosted by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adegeye Ogunwusi.

As contained in a statement issued by the Palace of Onimesi, this year’s celebration of the Ade Odun Festival will kick off today as the Onimesi and his chiefs will join the Muslim Community in Jumat Service by 1:30pm.

There will be a general cleaning of the market and the Palace Area on Saturday, while a fellowship, organised by the Palace Chaplain, Pastor Samuel Ojo, will hold at the Palace between 4pm and 5pm, on Sunday.

As part of the activities for the main event, holding on Monday, there will be Tite Ade by the Isigun Family by 6am; Visit to Ade on display at the palace from 9am to 12noon; and cultural entertainment by the Imesi Palace Cultural Troupe from 12noon to 3pm.

Also lined up for the event on Monday are speeches by invited traditional from the state, including the Ajagun of Iluomoba, the Oore of Otun and the Oniyin of Iyin Ekiti.

Representative of telecommunications giant, AIRTEL, will present gifts to youths and the community, while there will be a short address by an Imesi high chief, to be followed by closing prayers and appreciation by the Onimesi of Imesi, Oba Olatunji Olatunde.

Prominent indigenes of Imesi Ekiti, eminent personalities and friends of the community are expected to grace the occasion, the statement added.
