But for the intervention of officers of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a 60-year-old man would have lost his life to mob action by angry residents of Ibadan, the state capital, in the early hours of today.

As contained in press release by the CDPRO, Oluwole Olusegun, the man (name withheld) was alleged to have molested two female minors at the Fanawole Area of Apete, in the Ibadan metropolis.

Speaking at the Command Headquarter, the State Commandant CC Iskilu Akinsanya, said the Anti-Human Trafficking of the NSCDC got alerted of the incident at around 9am when the resident of the area called on its divisional office at Sango to interfere before the suspect would be out to harm.

The release further stated that, from interrogations and investigation from the alleged victims, it was gathered that the suspect was accused of penetrating the private part of the girls on the account of spiritual healing.

“It took the intervention of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the area to rescue the situation when the residents of the area were about to set ablaze the man’s house.

“The Commandant appreciates the people of the area for giving timely information to the Corps and assures the public that, after the completion of investigation, NSCDC will charge the case to court,” the released stated.

The Oyo NSCDC however urged the people and residents of the state not to “get involve in jungle justice but report criminal activities to NSCDC and other security agencies.”
