Nigeriaβs President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a new Inspector-General of Police to take over from Mohammed Adamu.
NewspotΒ understands according to a report monitored on Vanguard that the President appointed the Deputy Inspector-General,Β DIG, Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP.
It will be recalled thatΒ President Buhari had in February 2020,Β extended the tenureΒ of the Inspector General of Police,Β Mohammed AdamuΒ by three months.
This development was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs,Β Maigari DingyadiΒ while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He noted that the extension of the IGPβs tenure by the president is to allow enough time to select a new police boss.
