The Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF) has inaugurated its expanded State Executive Committee comprising 51 members and others.
The event, which took place at Sheergrace Arena, Uyo was the formal inauguration of the Board of Trustees, Elders’ Advisory Council, State Executive members and Local Government Area Coordinators with members of some of the organs drawn from Ikot Ekpene, Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts.
Performing the inauguration, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who is the Grand Leaders of ADF commended the people of Akwa Ibom State for supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in his fight against corruption and the determination to provide effective leadership to the country.
The Minister, who was represented at the event by the Interim Administrator of NDDC, Mr. Effiong Akwa said, “Leadership is the ability to translate vision into reality, and a great leader is someone that rewrites the peoples’ history.”
The Director General of ADF, Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo described the inauguration of the State Executive Committee of the group as a new dawn in the political evolution of Akwa Ibom State, noting that the group is poised to entrench values and morality into the politics of the State.
Ekpo further noted that “Politics without morality can be likened to a man without conscience. Of course, such a man is a danger to society. They constitute the tribe of subculture people who perpetrate abhorrent and anti-social behaviour in the society.”
The Director General of ADF said the group was a vanguard in the advocacy for dependable leadership, adding; “This is the revolutionary task we have assigned ourselves and with God on our side, and unwavering commitment from us, we would succeed”.
Obongemem Ekperikpe also said that the Group adopted Senator Godswill Akpabio as a model and exemplar because of his outstanding and dependable leadership style.
“The motto of ADF, which is DEPENDABLE LEADERSHIP, led us through a painstaking search for who would serve as our model and exemplar in dependable leadership. Though we did not have to search for too long or go too far, since visible deliverables of good and dependable leadership inundate the Akwa Ibom landscape as evidence of performance wrought between 2007-2015 by His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, the simplicity, candour, commitment, compassion and the ever unbridled quest to make a difference, identify him as a perfect example of a dependable leader. … we adopted him as our GRAND LEADER to serve as a compass to others that God has given, and would give an opportunity to serve”, Ekperikpe said.
The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Maurice Ebong, said that ADF was founded on the cannon of dependable leadership, advising members of the group to always uphold the tenets and principles of dependable leadership.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of ADF, Group Captain Sam Enwang (rtd) described the inauguration of the State Executive Committee of ADF as a platform that would launch Akwa Ibom State to a higher height.
He commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for considering to team up with the group, and called for synergy with other splinter groups to give the State a dependable leader.
