Yari Should Step Down And Support Akpabio As President Of 10th Senate – Kabir

A former presidential candidate of Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Alhaji Shittu Mohammed Kabir, has called on former governor of Zamfara State and Senator-Elect Abdulaziz Yari, to drop his ambition for the Senate Presidency and support Senator Godswill Akpabio for the office.

He also called on all Senators-elect across partylines to cast their votes tomorrow for the duo of Akpabio and Barau because that is what the party and the president want at this time, stating that the “party is Supreme”.

He made the call on Monday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

According to him, “Let me use this opportunity to call on our Senators-elect from the North to obey the decision of the party as far as the leadership of the Senate is concerned in the interest of peace and unity of the country.

” I am also calling on my brother, Senator-elect Abdulaziz Yari, to drop his ambition and declare support for Senators Akpabio and Barau. Akpabio has the requisite experience as a former Governor, former Minority Leader of the Senate and most recently a member of the Federal Executive Council in charge of the Niger Delta Ministry.

“We Cannot afford to have a Muslim Senate President when the President and his vice are both Muslims. So in the interest of equity, justice, fairplay and religious inclusivity, Senator Akpabio from the South South should be supported to emerge the President of the 10th Senate tomorrow. “
