AJIMOBI COMMISSIONED UNCOMPLETED ROAD PROJECT IN OYO TOWN — Group.

By OyoInsight – May 17, 2019.

A socio-political group, Oyo Global Forum, OGF, has criticized what it called ‘non-completion of Oyo Township road project before purported commissioning’ by Governor Abiola Ajimobi whose tenure ends in two weeks.

The group in a statement by its chairman, Olorunpoto Rahman, said most of the projects initiated by the outgoing administration in the ancient town were shoddily executed.

“We view in consternation the purported commissioning of the Oyo Township Road Project, which evidently remains an uncompleted job, by Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Thursday.

“Apart from being uncompleted, the project, though initiated about seven years ago, passes for everything about shoddy exercise done without slightest regard for its social, health and environmental impacts.

It is on record that at the time work was at peak at Akesan stretch of the project, traders had to close shops and the area had to be avoided by commuters.
“This was because the contractors demonstrated no responsibility for the environment and the human community in which they were operating as they could not manage dusts by wetting the ground.

In 2014, we met with the Governor over this but he did not take responsible project serious.
“While our people endured this disservice for years with the hope the Governor would complete the project before his exit, he capped off his disservice with the unceremonious commissioning of a work not well and fully done.

“It is, therefore, important to place on record that the Oyo Road Project remains uncompleted several years after it was initiated by Governor Ajimobi. We appeal to the Governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to help prioritise this project and complete it, as well as others such as the radio project not completed by Governor Ajimobi.

“We, then, call on our representatives in the House of Assembly to as a matter of duty rise on the floor of the House to place on record the fact that the project remains uncompleted.”
