Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, has reappointed Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem as the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG).)

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant / Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh, indicated that the SSG would be sworn-in today by 5pm, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.

Dr Ekuwem’s reappointment, the statement said, is in keeping with the governor’s determination to keep the engine of governance running seamlessly

Dr. Emmanuel E. Ekuwem who was first appointed in January 2018 by Governor Emmanuel, is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (former University of Ife) Ile-Ife. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering Physics, Masters Degree in Physics, Masters Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (Microcomputer-based Instrumentation and Control Engineering) and a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Computer-based Instrumentation and Control Engineering).

He did his Post-PhD fellowship research work (Computer-based Real-Time Data Communication in PSTN) in the Networking and Radio Propagation Laboratory of the UNESCO ICTP, Trieste, Italy.

He worked briefly as Head of Engineering in the then Department of Meteorological Services (now Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET) of the Aviation Ministry before going on voluntary retirement at a very young age.

Dr. Ekuwem hails from Mbo local government area of Akwa Ibom State and is married with four children.
