Members of the Oyo State chapter of the Association of Former Chairmen of Local Government (ASSELGON) have demanded for more roles in the various political parties across the state.

The association, under the chairmanship of Hon Ezekiel Oyedepo of Oriire Local Government Area, made the demand in a communique issued after its recent meeting in Ibadan.

The meeting was presided over by the South-West chairman of the association, Hon Ademola Ojo, who acted in place of the chairman who was unavoidably absent.

Oyo ASSELGON, after a fruitful deliberation, resolved, among others, to reach out to their members who are currently holding various positions (appointed or elected) in order to consolidate on the platform.

The association, in the communique signed by Hon Wale Ogunmola and Biodun Adedoja, asked for a befitting office, just as it sought to position its members for future greater roles in the politics of Oyo State.

Asking for more collaborations with the media through the national body of the association, Oyo ASSELGON said: “We must be placed as stakeholders in our various parties. We must work for inter-party peace and politicking;

“We must instill and promote the tenets of good democratic practice and value; support the fight against corruption vices in public office; and promote the continuity of good governance and discontinuity of bad governance.”
