Respite came the way of staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso as Governor Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, gave approval on a number of issues affecting them.
The Oyo State governor, as contained in a post on his Facebook timeline, late Wednesday night, said he was in the medical institution to discuss the challenges it was facing.
He also declared the subvention of the institution would be increased in order to cover payment of minimum wage and salaries of 177 members of staff of the hospital who have been recalled.
He conveyed his approval on a number of other issues, including: payment of 2014 corrected CONMESS; payment of COVID-19 hazard allowance; and increased subvention to cover payment of minimum wage, payment of 2016 and 2017 arrears as well as payment of the salaries of 177 members of staff who were recalled.
The governor promised that all the payments shall be effected before the end of the month of August.
Among others, he said: “A team will screen the 46 staff members who were disengaged from next Monday, and if the screening is successful, they will be reinstated.
“Implementation of a pilot study for semi-autonomy for selected secondary healthcare facilities. Implementation of residency training and placement of doctors who have completed their residency training from 2021.”
Reiterating that though most of these issues were inherited from the previous administration, he said “we are committed to resolving them while at the same time, ensuring that the good people of Oyo State reap all the benefits of good governance.”
